Eligibility
Criteria

Applicants of any nationality are welcome.

Academic Degree

  • A second-level academic degree (Master or equivalent) is required at application time or expecting to receive it within 31 October of the same year of the call.
  • Degrees like Bachelor of Technology, MBBS, and similar are considered first-level and therefore not valid for admission.
  • Applicants holding a foreign degree will be enrolled with reservation until document verification. Details on Italian higher education system can be found here. Some info on documents verification for the enrollment can be checked here.


English Proficiency

  • A valid English certification covering Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing must be submitted by the end of the first year, or admission will be revoked.

Application
Procedure

Submit the following via the online system:

  1. Application Form
    Includes personal data, education, research experience, research interest, publications, and motivation.
  2. Educational Documents
    • EU applicants: Diploma Supplements
    • Non-EU applicants: Transcripts
      Upload in PDF or DOC format. Documents sent by email will be discarded.
  1. Two Reference Letters
    Referees submit letters via the online system. The applicant is required to complete the referees form included in the application form, including the email address of the referees (upon their approval), who will then receive an automatic email with the instructions for the letter submission.

Application is complete only when letters and required documents are submitted.

Selection
Process

Admission to the program in System Medicine is highly competitive (successful rate 10%) and based on rigorous comparative evaluation. The process is managed by a central Evaluation Committee, supported by subcommittees (research areas based), that ensure fairness and consistency across all stages. Stages are described below:

  • Pre-selection
    Based on academic record, research experience, and application details.

  • Examination (Remote)
    • Written test: 60 multiple-choice questions
      • 25 Biology | 10 Logic | 25 Specific topics
    • Oral exam: Scientific background and motivation

  • Interviews
    Personal interviews with the group leaders that offer a position are foreseen after the oral examination.
